Creative Mix: Dancong Latte
A "Latte" Without the Caffeine

Who says lattes are only for coffee? This Dancong Latte offers a warm, comforting, caffeine-free alternative. The strong tea liquor combines with silky steamed milk to create a drink similar to milk tea, but with a more sophisticated and robust flavor profile.
Flavor Profile: Warm, smooth, and creamy. The honeyed notes of the tea complement the natural sweetness of the milk, resulting in a velvety texture.
Ingredients:
-
6 oz Strong-brewed Dancong tea (use double the leaves; Rou Gui Xiang or Mi Lan Xiang work well)
-
4 oz Whole milk (or plant-based milk like oat milk)
-
Optional: A drizzle of honey or maple syrup
Instructions:
-
Brew a very strong cup of Dancong tea (use double the usual amount of leaves).
-
Steam your milk using an espresso machine steamer or a milk frother until hot and frothy.
-
Pour the hot tea into a large, pre-warmed mug.
-
Slowly pour the steamed milk and foam into the mug. You can use a toothpick to create a simple design.
-
Add a drizzle of honey if you prefer a sweeter drink.
